Crispy Salmon March 12, 2012

Jamie says: Here’s a J & K classic- Crispy Salmon. There’s only one ingredient, and it’s salmon! K and I always come back to this favorite recipe because it tastes so good and it’s so easy to prepare. I love the crispy outside and the flaky inside.

Crispy Salmon

The crispy pieces sometimes come off. Doesn’t it look like salmon bacon? (I made that up, but I’d like to take credit for it. Definition on picture below.)

Salmon bacon- a crispy piece of salmon that is crispy like bacon but is actually healthy for you

Crispy Salmon

  • 1/2 lb salmon

  1. Heat a saute pan on a burner on medium heat. Place salmon filet on pan. Cook for about 6 minutes on one side, flip, and cook an additional 6 minutes on the other side or until crispy and cooked throughout. Flip salmon filet on it’s side and cook for 1 minute. Flip to other side and cook an additional one minute. Use a spatula to remove from pan. Enjoy!

Serves: 2

  • Nutrition note: No need to add extra fat and calories with oil or butter on this one. The salmon tastes amazing on its own and naturally has omega 3s, good-for-you fats.

  1. I wouldn’t have guessed you could saute salmon without oil or butter in the pan! This sounds really good. My husband and I eat a lot of fish, often salmon, so we’ll have to try this soon.

Glad you liked this one, too! I actually made it the same night I made the Roasty Toasty Corn. The salmon has a lot of “oil” inside of it so you’ll notice there’s even oil left in the pan when you’re done cooking it despite not having added any oil. I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think.
