Jamie says: When fruit’s on sale, it usually means it’s delicious. That’s because it’s usually in season and the flavors are at their peak. I bought a honeydew melon last week and let it ripen on the counter. (According to the CDC, honeydews are at their peak from June through October.) Today, I got out the big knife and wooden cutting board and went at it. I sampled it along the way. The taste was so delicious, I didn’t want to mask it with much, so I enjoyed the fresh with just two other ingredients.
Fresh Honeydew with Cinnamon Cottage Cheese
- 1 cup honeydew melon, chopped
- 4 oz container 2% cottage cheese with live and active cultures (Breakstone’s)
- 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
- Top honeydew with cottage cheese and cinnamon. Enjoy!
- Nutrition note: By enjoying 1 cup of diced melon, you are meeting about 50% of the daily recommendation for vitamin C (CDC).
